Dia De Los Muertos is a celebration with roots in Spanish and Aztec culture. It is a holiday in which participants remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have passed. The celebration is filled with food, drink, and elaborate ofrendas, small altars with pictures and gifts for the dead. The holiday is observed mainly in Mexico and Spain, but also in countries across the world. It takes place on November 1st through 2nd. For my contributions to the holiday, I wrote an obituary and wrote a poem. My obituary remembers the life of Bradley Nowell, an American singer songwriter and leader of the band, Sublime. For my poem, I wrote about a surfer named Zion. He needs to travel by plane to get to one of his competitions, but he is challenged by the fact that he is a skeleton.
